Provided below is a list of equipment that WPRO find useful when carrying out an investigation, none are essential but some do help when taking atmospheric measurements and recording investigation events.
Digital Stills Camera
A useful piece of equipment used by most paranormal researchers. The basic tool used to capture potential light anomalies and to record location images.
Digital Video Camera
A great investigation tool especially when equipped with infra red night vision to enable recording in the dark. This can be used to record both visual and audio events and to keep a log of the investigation.
Motion Detection Web Cam
This web cam is used for lock off and motion detection work. Equipped with infra red this can be used in the dark making it a very versatile tool. It can be left to monitor one location while you investigate another.
The controversial Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) meter is used to monitor magnetic field fluctuations against baseline test levels. There are various types of EMF meters.
Changes in EMF levels could be associated with paranormal activity but are also given off naturally by many electrical items.
Thermal Imaging Camera
Used to detect temperature fluctuations this camera can visually interpret the temperature of objects and surfaces within its field of view. This powerful piece of equipment can capture stills and graphical data logs.
Temperature and Humidity Meters
Portable thermometers and hygrometers, recording both ambient and spot temperature as well as humidity. These enable baseline measurements to be taken and any variance in starting values can be logged.
Digital Audio Equipment
A digital voice recorder and 360 degree microphone used to record any audio anomalies. Used in conjunction with a white noise source it can be used to detect Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP).
Laptop Computer
Used with web cams and audio equipment when out on site. Invaluable in conjunction with desktop PC’s when analysing and producing finished reports, DVD’s and an up to date website.
